What is a Gargoyle
A Gargoyle was thought to be a living monster, stone and inanimate by day, but By night became flesh and blood killers by night. Originally used on tall buildings like churches to direct water away from the fragile structure of the buildings they would spot water from their mouths to terrifying effect. They come in many varieties, some are full bodied, often with wings; others are simply disembodied heads of half bodies. These often Demonic looking creatures can be found standing guard in Gothic style structures, Cathedrals and castles throughout history and as far back as the ancient Egyptians. It is said that Gargoyles only come to like to fend off evil, which would explain the connection to churches and places of religion. The name "Gargoyle" comes from the Gargouille, a dragon that spouted water from its mouth, causing floods. Gargoyles, the stone decorations, were originally representations of this monster.
